I Am NOT A Victim |

Hi, ******!
I feel that I need to address an issue which keeps reappearing, and I
request that this message be posted on any and all appropriate websites
which deal with the issues surrounding Tommy Shelton.
It is widely known that both of my brothers fell victim to
inappropriate sexual behavior by Tommy, and since this information has gone
public, statements have been made to me, or to others about me, in regard to
whether or not the same fate had befallen me. While I can certainly
understand this concern, it is troubling to me that certain individuals seem
to have simply concluded within their own minds that I must have been a
victim as well. This could potentially result in litigation if the wrong
things are said to the wrong people, so I feel that the time has come for me
to set the record straight.
The simple truth....I am NOT one of Tommy Shelton's victims. The
despicable acts which were, unfortunately, perpetrated on my brothers were,
fortunately, never perpetrated on me. For what reason, I am not sure, but I
am glad that I was never victimized and I wish that my brothers and all of
the other young men could say the same of themselves.
True as this may be, certain facts remain. Though I was not a victim
myself, I am still experiencing my own degree of pain in this situation
because of what my brothers and several friends have gone through. In light
of this, I wish to make it perfectly clear that I am not making this
statement in defense of Tommy Shelton. I am NOT defending that man, and I
never will again! I am making this statement to protect those who have been
misled into believing and advocating something that simply is not true.
The problem is this....the time could come when something is said to
someone in regard to my "victimization", and those in Tommy's defense could,
in the long run, use that as a basis for litigation against the person who
made the statement when the truth comes out. I do not intend to give them
the satisfaction. I repeat....I am NOT defending Tommy Shelton. As long as
he has no chance of squirming his way out of trouble, I don't give a care
what he has or what he does with it, but I am afraid that something is going
to be said which could give his side even a small bit of credibility, and
this just cannot happen.
At this point, there have been no direct accusations against Tommy in
regard to me personally, but I am afraid that this may soon happen. I just
want to make it very plain to everyone that I am not a victim, but that I
stand with and support the victims who are now coming forward.
Thank you very much for your assistance in this matter.
In Christ,
Scott
